Keider - creation

Symbol: the iridescent crystal

Keider is the original god, the origin of all. It explains his popularity among civilizations from all sources. Inspiration of the fullness and perfect consistency, this deity is the one that spawned the world. Conservative even for a god, Keider does not support the desecration of his grandiose creation: perfection cannot be changed without pervert. He appreciates everything works smoothly and anything that complements its wonderful work without corrupting the operation.

As its very nature, the means by which he manages to intervene with mortals consistent with his usual calm: the gentle breeze, almost imperceptible movements of planetary geology and the serenity of the vast expanse of ocean Ekarnos. They may also reflect his anger when gentle breeze becomes typhoon; discrete geological movements become ripples earthquakes exterminators and serene waves become belligerent outbursts destroying everything in their path. This incredible display of power inspires fear, but also admiration for anyone who might become the prey of these wonderful effects.

Caution is recommended when trying to curry favors from the divine creator, because blunders are severely punished. A divine incantation forgotten or mispronounced may easily offend the deity who demands complete submission of individuals and devoted cities. Because this god, like all the others, is inordinately conceited, devotion and punctuality in the incantatory sacrifices are absolutely mandatory. Keider, god of peaceful nature, greatly appreciates splendid celebrations with a maximum of individuals who live with unity and submission. Elements up to his ego, spectacular achievements immediately associated with his name dot the territories: the colossal trees are seen growing in totally unusual places with telltale marks of divine action on them. It is at these places that the tribes of followers gather to express their faith in Keider, their only lord. In these specific places, the tradition wants followers to combine with nature to feel at one with creation. Silence and an attitude of contemplative prayer are needed, the discipline is absolutely necessary to meet the requirements of the Almighty. A religious installation must also be built in believers’ cities; otherwise it would simply be forgotten by the Eternal who, by the way, has many other pursuits then ordinary mortals.

The Keider believers do not really care about Quainad believers; because they consider an affront to the creator to encounter such infidels enjoying the savage rituals and vulgar seriously confronting their own kind. They even consider them as an enemy to exterminate, because such a threat to the health of creation cannot be tolerated. The disciples of Othar are better estimated as wiser and do not constitute a perpetual menace to them. Both peoples have quite tense relationships because the Keider’s faithful blame the Othar's philosophy consisting to destroy nature for artificial accomplishments. They also completely disregard the polytheists that they consider as stones followers and heretics that deny the importance that Keider needs, the original principle of life.

Othar - inspiration

Symbol: The creativity star

The inspiration, that which, combined with unbridled energy, helped lead the second being of light: Othar. Known also for his creative ability, he has always been a quite sensational power: a pure spiritual energy. These characteristics were attributed to him when he emerged from the inspiration of Keider who was making Ekarnos when pure power and destruction reigned on the lands of the New World. Unlike his fellows, his original vision enabled him to avoid being overtaken by events and his omnipotence. Indeed, very few moments after his "birth", he managed to avoid the Keider’s wrath of annihilating who saw the dawn of a rival by his presence. He could then escape and become aware of his own power.

His followers know how to recognize his elements in their habitat: the lightning of the heavens, the mythical power of legendary mountains, and the ocean currents which are quite mysterious. Like the others, as his power may remain passive, mere flashes, harmless ocean currents or the habitual indulgence of lonely mountains, as he knows strike with fury and cruelty of the infidels by disturbing storms, disruptive oceanic irregularities, and a cruel mountain energy attracting death and despair to the cities he wants to punish.

This god demands, as a dedication, regular and solemn celebrations and a strong sense of belonging to his religious community. The building of a sacred place is a duty to enjoy the good graces of this being of light. This is a place where the Immortal will often see his faithful and able to challenge their unshakable faith that he wants in his name. The more spiritual energy is intense in this place, the more importance the hosting city will get. This construction will also be the scene of important sermons of allegiance and to which we can escape only by death or divine punishment usually destroying the soul of the villain. These homilies are the basis of this relationship of interdependence between Othar and us. As an ongoing tribute, the most exaggerated expression of art in trance, that is to say, the artistic achievement in transient state, is seen everywhere in the community of believers.

These followers of aestheticism know how to live in relative harmony with the followers of two other gods: Keider and Quainad, but also disdain the polytheistic tribes. They know polytheistic do not want to offend the gods, but they think it's just silly and unworthy of attention from them. Depending on the orientation of the various religious factions, they agree better with the Quainad faithful than Keider, because these see as a priority the preservation of the authenticity of creation, while they consider, like Quainad followers, that spiritual power prevails on the creation. They also think that it is actually more natural to submit primitive nature to evolved individuals than the opposite.

Quainad - passion

Symbol: the blazing orb

The characteristic power of Quainad made him the most warlike and fierce god of the divine triangle. Having emerged from a destructive energy, itself due to the ferocity and murderous rage of Othar, it is obvious that even a being so perfect that God could only react with an externalization of the incredible burning power. This deity has a completely dominating soul although it may earn him the disfavor and even disgust of other deities and their faithful cities. His followers seek power, domination of all that exists, because they believe that everything that exists is theirs.

The power of Quainad may seem rather elusive, difficult to observe, but it is not: the despotic rage carries in each living being of the Creation. This is the most treacherous way he found to possibly supplant his brothers and get the entire world. The second way to see his power lies in the undeniable strength of the eternal flames of the sun and the unpredictable power of some mountains know to release blazing energy of the planet. These divine incarnations with which it maintains links come into direct conflict with Keider and Othar. It is how we recognize that insidious and megalomaniac being desperate to reach his ultimate goal: his unquestioned supremacy.

Civilizations that sincerely devote them to this god inspire terror and an everlasting fear. Their unique aim is getting a power increasing to infinity. The religious festivities do not absolutely need to comply with a draw, one rule is required: each individual must exercises his will power by dominating a subject. For practical reasons, this subject is generally common to whole crowd. Sadism, violence and even cannibalism are present; anything that involves the authority of a master and the submission of a slave is welcomed. Usual morality becomes completely different during these celebrations to create a widespread killing. The place of worship is very important to this religion: it serves to communicate to Quainad the extent of his control over the twelve preponderant races of Ekarnos.

As this extreme greed behaviour hints, the Quainad’s followers are in very bad terms with those of Keider which live for this feeling of unification with Creation, and draw closer to those of Othar, but far more eccentric. Indeed, a special characteristic of Othar’s faithful is to let their creative power by ignoring completely the nature. In the case of those Quainad, they live to dominate and destroy every creation and do not respect authority. The relationships are much more strained with the former than the latter, and they maintain a relationship of complete indifference to the polytheists who are very rarely an obstacle to their supremacy.

poly

Polytheist

Symbol: The iridescent orb of nature

True representatives of the gods throughout the lands of Ekarnos, different elements are revered and considered as divine. The fact is that the three major gods: Keider, Quainad and Othar can be seen in any form whatsoever. In doing so, they may intervene only through the picturesque Nature. This Nature has somehow always been considered as an enemy, a fear. The vast extent of forests is impressive and dominates their inhabitants, the legendary power of winds and waves is no longer a surprise in the islands, the ferocity of the sun is painfully felt in the desert dunes and it is the same for all the geological and atmospheric forces belonging to all continents of the globe. Another reason explains the perdurable veneration paid to this nature. As recorded in Genesis, all creation is the work of the omnipotence of Keider which was followed by the all-powerful inspiration Othar and ultimately the supreme power of the destructive passion of Quainad. This extraordinary demonstration of power generated half-divine offspring who sublimated among the elements to accomplish the will of their fathers: to ensure the balance of their newest creation by acting as a pure and divine energy order of ensure full continuity of this magical world.

Some civilizations have recognized this; they decided to try to attract the good favours of the gods through the elements that are ubiquitous and more easily accessible and identifiable than the deities controlling them. Furthermore, it can be seen as impious to speak directly to god, a perfect and omnipotent being. The solution is to ask to these demigods which are the elements: it is wiser and more secure. The Nature demands a devoted perpetual respect; otherwise it strikes with rage and fury on the heretics. Cities need this Nature to survive. In return, the Nature only requires sacrifices to recover and to accept the presence of other lifeforms in the field: all the continents. It is simply to bribe the semi-divinities to secure a place in their kingdom. Many offerings are needed and the ways to proceed are numerous, but essential. The semi-divinities must directly take possession of this is offered to them: waves, earthquakes and storms are the means by which the sea, earth and wind can receive the offered presents. The cremated remains still a quick, efficient and highly appreciated way to sacrifice their crops in homage to the sun that burns and lightnings that generate redemptive fires on the earth of Mother Nature.

This religion includes all other by its unifying nature. The offspring of deities descended from the three original powers which clearly explains this quality. Its followers agree well with the followers of each god, no matter these judge them, and all are bound when polytheists. The elements of the divine creator Keider such as wind and sea are combined with those of ardent passion of Quainad that fuels the fury of the sun and the fires and the energy of inspiration of Othar which abounds in the clouds that roar through the upper atmosphere of the planet.

Unbeliever

Ideology adopted by peoples called independent, the refusal to worship any deity whatsoever makes them independent but isolated peoples. Not wanting to put their fate in the hands of omnipotent beings, they prefer to invest in the city instead of erecting temples and give up more of their production by sacrifices. This lack of belief allows for a higher income in respect to the exploitation of resources, but it bores people who dislike living in an atheist city.

Deities tend to ignore such societies, why giving them any importance while they give them no? The spiritual energy is virtually non-existent in these nations; the power of their spells is seen more oriented towards physical and mental powers than divine.

These nations do not maintain any special relationship with the cities with religious rituals. Whether they are polytheistic or monotheistic, non-believers see them as inferior nations needing divine interventions to allow them a life. They escape, however, to the everlasting feud between the different religions. Even the absence of religious belief does not exclude them; it makes a similar element to any other society: a subject of dispute.

*Lack of faith requires no investment, but brings nothing and affects the morale of your people.
